Living by Faith in the Son of God

"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." — Galatians 2:20

Reflection

In Galatians 2:20, Paul delivers a profound truth: as followers of Christ, we no longer live for ourselves. The old self, with its desires, sins, and ambitions, is crucified with Christ. Our identity is now rooted in Him, and our lives are a reflection of His love, grace, and power.

To live by faith in the Son of God means surrendering control and trusting fully in Jesus. It’s not about trying harder or doing more; it’s about allowing Christ to work in and through us. The moment we accept this truth, we experience freedom from striving, fear, and condemnation.

Paul emphasizes that this transformation is fueled by the love of Jesus—a love so powerful that He gave Himself for us. This sacrificial love should inspire us to live differently, aligning our lives with His purpose and glory.

Application

  1. Surrender Daily: Each day, take time to surrender your plans, struggles, and desires to Christ. Ask Him to guide your thoughts and actions.

  2. Live by Faith: Trust God in every aspect of your life. Whether it’s your relationships, career, or personal growth, rely on His wisdom and timing.

  3. Reflect Christ’s Love: In your interactions, let the love of Christ shine. Be patient, kind, and forgiving, just as He is with you.

  4. Remember Your Identity: When you’re tempted to define yourself by the world’s standards, remember that your worth is in Christ. You are loved, chosen, and redeemed.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the incredible sacrifice You made for me. I surrender my life to You, knowing that it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. Help me to trust You fully, to live by faith, and to reflect Your love to those around me. Let my life be a testimony of Your grace and goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Challenge

This week, meditate on Galatians 2:20 each morning. Write down one way you can live out this verse in your daily life, whether it’s in your attitude, decisions, or interactions with others. Share your experience with someone to encourage them in their faith.
